Deputy President William Ruto has accompanied his brother, David Ruto Samoei for a dowry negotiation ceremony in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu county.
The traditional ceremony dubbed Koito is done to formalise marriage between a husband and wife who have spent time together and even sired children among the Kalenjin community.
The function which was characterised by pompous traditional songs, dance and jubilation went down on Friday, August 9.
Ruto, who is known for his articulate skills, is believed to be one of the best negotiators for dowry and other traditional engagements.
During the successful function, the DP took the role of introducing his family and other guests to the in-laws.
He was also the lead negotiator for the dowry.
High profile guests and top political leaders from Uasin Gishu and the expansive Rift Valley region graced the ceremony.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, Woman Rep Gladys Shollei and Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi were among the leaders who attended the function.
David is marrying his long-time sweetheart Carol Kitur
