ODM party leader Raila Odinga has shut down claims that he met some of the coastal leaders who are now in quarantine after interacting with Kilifi deputy governor Gideon Saburi, who tested positive for the coronavirus.
Through his spokesperson Dennis Onyango, Odinga said he only met Mombasa deputy governor William Kingi.
“Mr Odinga has been operating mostly from home while transacting official business online. In addition, he has since suspended operations at his Capital Hill offices to minimise human traffic to the office. Upon suspending physical operations of his Capitol Hill offices, and in order to minimise crowding, Mr Odinga made a low-key visit to Mombasa mid last week for a few days of rest, where he stayed in his house .
During the Mombasa visit, Mr Odinga did not meet with any of the leaders of the Coastal counties or their deputies, except the Deputy Governor of Mombasa County Dr William Kingi. He DID NOT MEET Deputy Governor of Kilifi County,” he said.
The AU envoy had been away from the public sphere after the confirmation of the first coronavirus case in Kenya but was spotted on Friday, March 20 at his Nyali home where Dabaso Ward by-election ODM candidate Dickson Karani & Mombasa deputy governor Hon. William Kingi paid him a visit.
