Starehe Girls High School management has been forced to isolate about 52 girls from the rest following an outbreak of a strange disease in the school.
The mysterious disease is reported to have attacked more than 50 girls who had flu-like symptoms, low-grade fever, pitched cough and sneezing.
The school’s administration issued a statement confirming the outbreak of the disease and assured parents and all relevant stakeholders that they were working closely with health departments and the national government to contain the situation.
“The Starehe Girls Community confirms that there has been an increasing number of cases presenting with an unknown cause of high pitched cough, sneezing and low-grade fever amongst some of the students. We are currently working with the National Government Ministry of Health as well as volunteer doctors to ascertain the cause and contain the situation. 52 girls have since been isolated for observation within the school. Samples have been obtained for further tests,” read part of the statement.
